Meet the Ferrari 365 GT Nart Spyder, the ugliest Ferrari ever. It was this example of the 1969 sports car in the photo that went on sale in Germany this week.
But, despite the unattractiveness, this car is indecently expensive. The starting price at the auction is set at about 1.3 million euros (107 million rubles). And all because there are only two such sports cars in the world.
The company with the prancing horse on its logo knows how to combine elegance and sportiness. But this was not always the case – sometimes there were failures. And this failure has a name – 365 GT Spyder Nart. Only two examples of this model were produced in the late 1960s and they are considered the ugliest in Ferrari history.
The history of this Ferrari is unique. This is the work of Luigi Chinetti Jr., whose father founded the Nart racing team. He was also the largest Ferrari importer in the US.
The Italian automaker officially approved the redesign of the car while retaining the logo, but the chief designer considered it a failure.
According to a former Ferrari driver, an experienced 24 Hours of Le Mans driver, the car was too long and only 70% resembled a Ferrari. Aesthetically, the convertible coupe looks more like a replica than a real Ferrari.
If the car’s design isn’t its forte, the engine and mileage make up for it. This version of the Nart Spyder is based on a 1969 Ferrari 365 GT Bj and is powered by a 4.4L V12 engine.
The power of the sports car is 320 horsepower, which allows it to accelerate to speeds of more than 240 km/h.
The copy in the photo has a mileage of less than 5000 km.
