A fleet of emergency commanders working on the Central Ring is connected to the smart road network in pilot mode. V2X (Vehicle-to-everything, “a car connected to everything”) technology will connect cars and the highway, exchanging information online. The project is being carried out by the company United Operator (a joint venture between the Avtodor State Corporation and the Telematics group).

The first to be connected to the V2X technology are emergency commissioners on duty 24 hours a day on the “smart” section of the central ring road, from the M-11 Neva highway to the M-7 Volga.

In the event of an emergency, the traffic management system will automatically identify it and make a corresponding mark on the map. Information about the incident is sent to the car screen. This will increase the speed of notifying emergency commissioners, intended to assist motorists on toll roads.

The coordination of the work of all systems is carried out from the Central Control Center, which in the future will manage not only the Central Ring Road, but also the new highway M-12 Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan as part of the West-East transport corridor.

As Marcel Nigmetzyanov, general manager of the United Operator company, noted, the launch of the pilot project will lay the necessary foundation for the further dissemination of smart roads in Russia.
