The owner of the truck, which overturned by freezing on the Yeruslan River in the Nikolaevski district of the Volgograd region, decided not to remove the truck from the reservoir. In this respect informs local edition “City News”.
The incident with the truck occurred in early February. A DAF truck from Turkey was carrying 17 tons of plywood and was on its way to Kirov. Investigators found that the 65-year-old driver was driving a navigator and that the Yeruslan River, which crosses here in summer, is covered with ice in winter.
The driver did not notice that the reservoir was on the surface, and a few tens of meters from the shore, the car fell into the ice. It was discovered by local fishermen in the morning. The cab of the truck was completely flooded, and the trailer was on the surface. The truck driver’s body was found at the bottom of the reservoir a few days later.
After the ice melted, the plywood truck sank to the bottom. In the single duty dispatch service of the Nikolaev region, they said that the owner of the truck had no intention of removing the car from the river, because the cost would exceed the cost of the car. Local authorities have also not made a decision on what to do with the truck.
