The Russian Union of Motorcycle Insurers (RSA) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the status of the project to monitor the availability of OSAGO policies through cameras on the roads – the reliability of the system approached “four nines”, which means very high for specialists. Thanks to the improvement of the AIS OSAGO database, the error rate has been reduced to a minimum.

Now we have to solve legal and organizational problems. It has yet to be decided how many times you can be fined for not having an OSAGO policy if the driver has been caught under cameras repeatedly during the day – by analogy with a speeding ticket, or if this offense can be attributed to long-standing infractions, for which the fine comes once a day.

All issues will be resolved by a working group with the participation of the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, which will meet in the near future.

According to RSA statistics, about 10.1% of drivers today do not have an OSAGO policy. Thanks to video cameras, the proportion of offenders can be significantly reduced. This will protect the interests of those injured in the accident, respectable participants in the movement. After all, there is still a high risk of suffering from a director whose liability is not insured.
