In Russia, they offered to introduce the responsibility for adjusting the odometer reading of cars. With this initiative spoke Alexei Podshchekoldin, Vice-President of the Russian Association of Automobile Dealers (ROAD), during a discussion in which the candidates for the chairman of the association participated.

The vice president of PATH offered to impose a fine for bending mileage up to 300 thousand rubles for individuals and up to 1 million rubles for companies that provide odometer correction services.

According to Poshchekoldin, there is no longer a penalty for bending the mile in Russian law. Theoretically, they could be fined 500 rubles for this, but according to his presentation, no one actually does.

The ROAD vice president also noted that 80% of the used car market is owned by “gray” dealers who regularly sell cars with crooked mileage.
