State Duma deputy Oleg Lebedev from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation proposed banning car dealers from selling cars for more than the manufacturer’s recommended retail price (RRP). In this respect informs Vedomosti newspaper, referring to the draft amendment to the law “On Commerce” prepared by the deputy.
It was noted that Oleg Lebedev also proposed to prohibit car dealers from installing additional equipment on a car before it is sold to a buyer. Therefore, according to him, salons impose optional options on customers.
In an explanatory note to the document, Lebedev noted that the RRP for cars increased by 18-40% in 2021 and another 19% in 2022. Dealers also began to impose additional equipment on customers, according to the deputy. As a result, a car worth a million rubles at a dealership can already cost twice as much.
According to the deputy, the changes were developed after numerous appeals from citizens.
