Bali island authorities ban tourists from renting motorcycles after high-profile accidents

Tourists vacationing on the island of Bali, local authorities have banned the rental of motorcycles. In this respect informs The Bloomberg agency cites Wayan Koster, the island’s governor.

From now on, tourists will have to use the transportation services provided by Bali’s tourism business to “guarantee quality and decent tourism,” Coster said.

Tourists who are stopped by the police while riding a motorcycle can have their visa revoked. According to Bloomberg, the motorcycle rental ban is most likely related to the behavior of Russian and Ukrainian tourists. In February 2023, local law enforcement detained a Russian who was riding a motorcycle while intoxicated and crashed into another driver. Also in January 2023, a Russian and a Ukrainian died in an accident.
