At the beginning of 2023, second-hand automobile imports to Russia increased by 2.8 times, informs analytical agency “Avtostat”.
In January and February, 66.6 thousand used cars were imported to the Russian Federation. It fell by 35 thousand units in January and 31.6 thousand units in February. More than half of the used cars were brought from Japan. At the same time, the volume of imports from Armenia was 14.1% and the volume of imports from Belarus was 13.4%. The remaining countries each accounted for less than 10%.
According to analysts, the increase in the volume of imports of used cars to Russia has been continuing since May 2022, with parallel import clearance.
Now dealers import models of Mazda, Toyota, Skoda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and other brands to Russia. However, due to high taxes, customs clearance of cars falls on individuals. There are no preconditions for the decrease in automobile prices and the share of automobiles imported through parallel imports will reach 10% by the end of the year, said socialbites.ca specialists.
