Ford Stops Production of S-Max and Galaxy and Lays off Factory Workers in Spain

In conjunction with the remodeling of businesses in Europe, Ford will lay off 1.1 thousand workers at a factory in Valencia, eastern Spain, and complete production of the S-Max and Galaxy minivans. informs Automotive News Europe.

“Ford will work constructively with union partners to reduce the impact of the layoffs on employees, their families and the local community,” a Ford spokesperson said.

Staff had to be laid off as Ford stopped production of the S-Max and Galaxy minivans at its Valencia plant in April and instead focused on crossovers and electric vehicles. Previously, the production of Ford Mondeo was stopped at the same factory.

Formerly Japanese Mitsubishi introduced The company’s medium-term development plan. In the next five years, Mitsubishi plans to start production of 16 new models.
