The MAZ-500 truck was a very interesting car for its time. The first batches of such machines were produced in 1961, mass production was mastered in 1963.

And then the “five hundredth” became the first truck in the USSR with a cabover cab, lifted for maintenance and repair.

*This material was created by a person who has the status of a foreign agent in the Russian Federation.

Under the cabin, in fact, were Yaroslavl V6 diesel engines with a capacity of 180 horsepower, famous for their reliability. Later, V8 diesels with an output of up to 270 hp appeared.

In the “pre-KAMAZ” era – that is, until the end of the 1970s – MAZ-500 trucks were considered the standard of comfort, and mainly because of the cabin. This moment was especially appreciated by drivers who switched from ZIL tractors …

The “500th” was so successful that it was released with a circulation of more than 330 thousand copies and was exported to the countries of the socialist camp and Finland.

And here are 6 more trucks from our childhood that foreigners liked.
