This is exactly the story that took place in Atlanta, and it ended with the police pulling the suspect out of the crashed Cruiser just before the car rammed the freight train – this is clearly seen on the cameras.
Michal Parker, 29, stole a police car while the officer was talking to a motorist. He left the car unlocked.
The officer immediately called the police and told the dispatcher the direction the SUV was heading.
The police equipment left on time – by this time the SUV overturned on the track and partially rolled on one of the rails. Police quickly pulled Parker out of the car – literally a second before the train crashed into the car.
The hijacker was arrested and placed in the Fulton County Jail. He is charged with auto theft, running away, evading justice, dangerous driving and damaging city property.
