Tesla shareholders accuse the company’s CEO of exaggerating the capabilities and safety of autopilot cars and “fully autonomous driving” technology.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in San Francisco. It alleges that Tesla misled shareholders for four years by concealing that Autopilot posed a serious risk of accidents and injuries and was even the possible cause of several fatal accidents.

The case focuses on the financial implications of this hoax, as Tesla stock has fallen significantly following investigations and vehicle recalls (for example, on Feb. 7%). Now shareholders want to recoup their losses.
