A 77-year-old tourist on an Alpina B3 Touring was abandoned by a navigator and got stuck on a hiking trail leading to a village on Lake Wolfgang in the Austrian state of Salzburg.
The man completely trusted the device and followed its instructions, ignoring traffic signs and warnings from passers-by that the car would not cross this road.
Although the path clearly narrowed, this did not stop the older gentleman, he kept going until there was no more room to squeeze through.
In photos released by the St. Gilgen Fire Department, the car was literally wedged between a fence and a rock.
The left side of the Alpina B3 Touring was eventually damaged by the railing, but the driver and passengers emerged unharmed.
The police who arrived on the scene checked the stubborn tourist for alcohol, but he turned out to be sober. He was fined for ignoring traffic signs, and after rescuers helped him free the stuck car, the grandfather continued on his way.
