Modern technologies to help hijackers: what the attackers came up with

The more complex car security systems become, the more methods of illegal access to cars and subsequent theft are improved. Thus, the attackers have the so-called “instigators”.

As one of the founders of the company Ugona.Net said Alexei Kurchanovthis is an electronic device for “pushing” an additional key into the memory of an ordinary immobilizer, which the hijackers themselves “write”.

“This makes the immobilizer accept this key as a real one and unlocks the regular anti-theft,” explains the expert.

The smartkey system (keyless access to the car), which “recognizes” the owner, also offers no protection against intruders. To steal such cars, they use repeaters or, as they are also called, “rods”. The range of the “rods” can be several kilometers.

You can protect yourself from this method of theft with the help of special cases made of special fabric for keys, which block any signal, Kurchanov advised.

Another “hijacking” device, which Nikolai Korchagin, the head of the OSA Security System Center, talked about, is unofficially called “Tetris”, because it looks like a children’s toy.

“By being near the car, the criminal activates a device that picks up the signal and then creates an emulation of an electronic key. At risk here, of course, are cars with keyless entry. For example, Tetris is actively used to steal Toyota cars,” the expert emphasized.
