But we must make a reservation that there are no serious shortcomings in the crossover.
This is the third generation Hyundai Tucson, sold from 2015 to 2021 with an update in 2018.
Expert from Za Rulem, the oldest and most authoritative automotive publication in Russia, Sergey Zinoviev told with which engine it is better to prefer this crossover in the secondary market.
Controversial engine options
Diesels usually seem like a good option for a hand-bought crossover due to their longevity. But not in the case of a 2-liter diesel engine (185 hp). The resource, of course, is 400 thousand km, but this engine is extremely sensitive to the quality of fuel and oil, and also requires careful maintenance.
The 1.6-liter diesel engine (index D4FD, 136 hp) was also controversial. Reasons — maslozhor and a combination exclusively with a robot box.
The situation is similar to the 1.6 turbo petrol engine (G4FJ, 177 hp), which, in addition to the described characteristics, also has a weak timing chain.
Remaining engine options
These are two petrol engines of 2.0 and 2.4 liters.
The most popular 2-liter G4NA 2.0 unit (150 hp) was characterized by chafing on the cylinder walls. It turned out that this happened due to a combination of three reasons: refueling with 92 m of gasoline (allowed by the manufacturer), running on a cold engine and with a minimum oil level. That is why in 2017 the engine was upgraded by adding extra oil jets. The same goes for the 2.4-litre engine. Both engines can travel 300 thousand kilometers or more, but only for owners who comply with all regulations and do not save on trifles by pouring AI-95 gasoline.
