Independent car importer in the UK, Lada Niva, has put its last remaining Russian SUV up for auction. The auction will end on March 2, according to information from the company’s website, lada4x4.co.uk.

The initial bid for the classic three-door SUV Lada Niva in the Bronto version at auction is £17,000. This is the last car of the Niva family left in the company’s London warehouse. The seller of the car, Mark Key, who has been importing Russian SUVs since 2010, wrote that the last delivery of the new Niva to the UK took place in February 2022.

According to Key, there was a gap in the UK for practical 4x4s larger than the Suzuki Jimny but smaller than the Land Rover. In 2022, he planned to put 90 cars on sale from Russia. In an interview with British Autocar magazine in February 2023, Key stated that the sanctions “put an end” to the Niva sales business in the UK.

“I applied to the Embassy of Kazakhstan for the procurement of Kazakhstan-made Lada Niva. However, it turned out that they only needed bulky vehicles, and the delivery route became even more difficult than before,” Ky quotes the publication.
