The St. Petersburg government is negotiating with Kazakhstan for the sale of the Hyundai plant, said Kirill Soloveichik, chairman of the city’s industrial policy, innovation and trade committee.
He also noted that colleagues from Hyundai never launched the General Motors site and that the city government is now negotiating to use one of the building’s buildings to train industrial workers, not just for the auto industry, but for the whole city.

The Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg stopped production of cars in March 2022, which was explained by difficulties in the supply of parts.
Previously, the company assembled Hyundai Solaris and Creta models, as well as Kia Rio and Rio X-Line. Capacities were designed to produce over 200,000 cars per year.
