Extremely ordinary
The Chery group had problems with the registration of a premium sub-brand in Russia. The Exeed brand is spelled differently than the name of the Kia XCeed model. But here’s the annoyance – it sounds the same.
That’s why we launched the new product as CheryExeed. A year later the problem was solved. The brand reverted to the same name used in the Chinese market.
Coinciding with the nameplate change, the first model, the TXL mid-sized crossover, was also slightly updated.
Exeed TXL does not have bright colors. The entire range is in strict white-black-grey tones. All versions are with four-wheel drive and a robot with seven gears and two clutches.
Large but five-seater
At almost 4.8 m long, the Exeed TXL could well be a seven-seater. For example, the similar-sized Chery Tiggo 8 offers three rows of seats in all versions.
Apparently, for prestige reasons, the Chinese decided not to put the third row in Exeed.
And so for five, TXL is very spacious. And the spare wheel is in a clean place in the trunk niche and does not hang from the outside under the floor.
The second row of seats is very spacious. No wonder, because TXL is an extended version. In China they sell the base model TX.

The Chinese have learned to work out not only the most important details, but also the little things that can “hook” a potential buyer. And at the same time maintain the high status of the machine.
For example, the letters of the brand name glow between the headlights of the TXL. This is forbidden on the way, but when opening and closing the doors they wink at each other in a funny way.
In the cabin, decorative inserts look interesting. Impressed with the lack of black gloss. Inserts for metal – machined or imitation nickel.
Turbo and AI-92
In the tradition of Chinese manufacturers, it is allowed to pour AI-92 gasoline into highly accelerated turbocharged engines.
So the 186 hp 1.6 engine is allowed to be “fed” with cheaper fuel. That you can save at least five rubles per liter at current gasoline prices.
If you opt for the Sport Edition package with a 2.0 turbo unit, watch out for the AI-95. There are not many more “horses” in it (197 hp), but the engine is already different. A more powerful version (249 hp) was installed on the older Exeed VX model.
Fashion options
The mentioned modification with the 2.0 engine only appeared in the line-up last summer.
It is 400 thousand more expensive, but you are not just overpaying for the engine.
The list of useful and modern features of this version includes a built-in video recorder, retractable footrests, full seat heating (previously only the cushion was heated), a full-sized spare wheel on a cast disc, soundproof glass front and tinted rear, a set of USB ports ( each two Type A and Type C).
Of the “sports motives” – only red calipers.
The dashboard is arranged according to all modern standards, and even the number of LCD displays exceeds the plan.
Price and popularity
Last year, 5,086 Exeed TXL crossovers were sold. An impressive result for an expensive “Chinese” with premium positioning.
The model even entered the top ten most popular cars from China. Despite the fact that the car is quite expensive: from 4 million to 4.65 million rubles, excluding discounts. And this is perhaps the most notable drawback.
