It often happens that the driver did not pay the fine on time – he forgot about it or simply did not know about its existence. If you miss the payment deadline set by law, the fine will be transferred to the bailiff.

However, if two years have passed since the decision was made, you can forget about the fine.

“The fines expire two years after the entry into force of the decision on his appointment. If the bailiffs have not forcibly debited them from your accounts until now, you can forget about these fines,” said automotive expert Alexander Shumsky.

At the same time, he warned that failure to pay the fine is a separate offense. At the discretion of the judge, it is punishable by a double fine, arrest of up to 15 days or community service of up to 50 hours.

In addition, it is only possible to punish for not paying a fine in the definition of a time window: only two months from when the fine was due to be paid, the expert added.

And it should be remembered that imposing a fine for non-payment of the first fine does not remove the obligation to pay the initial fine.
