Ukraine wants to introduce a mandatory tire change for the season

A bill has been registered in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, which, if adopted, would require drivers to change their car tires according to the season. This was reported by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Ukraine.

The bill proposes amendments to the “Highway Traffic Act” and the Administrative Offenses Act. Drivers of cars weighing up to 3.5 tonnes are required to use winter or all-season tires on all wheels from 1 November to 31 March. During this period, trucks over 3.5 tons must be fitted with winter tires.

In case of violation, it was proposed to impose fines on drivers for the tax-free minimum income of 20 citizens. Currently 340 hryvnia (about 700 rubles). The bill is being discussed in the relevant committees of the Ukrainian parliament.
