For the first time in Russia, the number of fines for traffic violations exceeded 200 million per year, informs Kommersant newspaper, which refers to the traffic police report 2022.
Thus, 201 million fines were issued for traffic violations in the Russian Federation last year, 12% more than in 2021. The total amount of fines reached 136.8 billion rubles (+6.7%).
Most fines (more than 90%) were imposed using video surveillance cameras: 183.5 million violations were recorded, 14% more than in 2021. The amount of fines for cameras reached 112.8 billion rubles (+8%). Local traffic police inspectors made 16 million decisions (7% less than in 2021).
The number of drunk drivers and those who refused to be tested was roughly the same as in 2021 — 288.4 thousand (-1%) and 166.4 thousand (-2.7%) respectively. A year ago, drug poisoning was detected in 18.7 thousand drivers against 18.3 thousand drivers.
Moscow became the leader in the number of penalties last year – 39.3 million decisions for 30.3 billion rubles. At the same time, the indicators in the capital increased by 23 percent in the number of fines and 27.8 percent in monetary terms compared to 2021. The Moscow region (fines 31.3 million for 19 billion rubles), St. Petersburg (9.6 million rubles for 4.4 billion rubles), Krasnodar Territory (7.7 million for 4.9 billion rubles) and Tatarstan (4.8 billion rubles for 7 million). .
