Buy-sell-wait? The car market through the eyes of motorists

82% of respondents believe that now is not the best time to buy a car – this was found in a survey conducted in February 2023 by the analytical holding company Romir. In October 2022 there were still 80%.

65% expect new car prices to rise in the coming months. At the same time, the share of those who expected price growth fell to the lowest level in the past 1.5 years. Interest rates on car loans will rise, say 59%.

69% believe that it is now unprofitable to sell a car, a year ago there were 56% of such people. At the same time, many people notice a reduction in the choice of new cars – 61% of respondents. Surprisingly, 18% are sure that the situation with the assortment has improved.

Despite parallel imports, the market shortage remains, experts say. Besides limiting choice, cost is the blocking factor when buying. However, consumers are gradually getting used to the situation and are no longer disapproving of it so sharply, both in terms of price and range, say experts.
