According to the patent, fingerprints, other greasy marks and other dirt are removed from the screen surface without the need for manual cleaning.
This will be achieved using several elements. First, in addition to LEDs with standard colors (red, green, blue), it is planned to add a fourth type, which emits ultraviolet that is invisible to the human eye.
Second, on the surfaceThe display is coated with a special layer of photocatalyst. This layer is transparent, so you can’t distinguish the new screen from the old one. The photocatalyst will use ultraviolet light from LEDs and water molecules from the air to drive chemical reactions to remove fingerprints. The cleaning can be started at any time, even at night.
The technology is in the patent stage, so it’s not a fact that it will get a serial implementation.
