GM figured out how to deal with fingerprints on car screens

General Motors has patented a self-cleaning technology for car media displays. It will allow you to deal with fingerprints when using touch screens, informs autoevolution.

The American automaker proposes, in addition to red, blue and green diodes, to install in the screens purple diodes that can reproduce ultraviolet radiation invisible to the human eye.

The screens are also planned to be equipped with a photocatalytic coating that can absorb light and trigger chemical reactions that will clean the screen from fingerprints and other contaminants. In contrast, ultraviolet radiation from diodes can be started even at night.
