Russia has begun testing a transport drone called TRAMP. The first flight is scheduled for April, a spokesman for the military-industrial complex said.

The characteristics of the new UAV are impressive. It can transport up to 250 kilograms of cargo over distances of more than 600 kilometers at speeds of up to 195 km/h.

The TRAMP developers have started testing the drone on the ground, checking and debugging the drone’s control systems and mechanisms, conducting a series of runs – so far without leaving the runway, to fine-tune the design parameters. All this in preparation for lifting the car into the air”, RIA Novosti quotes the words of an interlocutor from the defense industry.

The drone has a very large cargo area – a capacity of 2650 liters. For comparison, this is the interior volume of a large SUV with the seats folded.

The cargo carried in it can be parachuted or unloaded after landing. There is more than enough time to deploy the parachute, as the TRAPM can ascend to a height of up to 3 kilometers.

The aircraft can be “loaded” with a shock charge and radar, optical, cartographic and other special equipment can be placed in it. It is also capable of landing in poorly prepared short range sites. If necessary, any part of the drone can be quickly replaced, be it the engine or the wing.

The drone can be used for both civil and agricultural purposes.
