Electric vehicle owners can use toll roads for free until the end of the year. So far, this only affects travel on federal highways: M-11, M-12, the Central Ring Road, and others.
Car owners will have to buy or rent a contactless transponder from Avtodor, the electric car will be added to the database with a corresponding mark. Therefore, it will not work to hang a transponder on an ordinary car and drive for free – the money will still be written off.

The decision taken should support the development of electric transport in Russia. If the experiment is considered successful, it can be extended. So far, in the total volume of the Russian fleet, electric cars occupy a small share – according to the traffic police, 22.5 thousand electric passenger vehicles were registered at the end of 2022.

Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Behind the wheel”:
– Any support for motorists is good. But free travel on toll roads is of interest only to fans of electric cars, who already drive them even from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Or they drive from the suburbs along the M-11 to work in the capital.
For ordinary motorists, these initiatives are like dead compresses. As long as the price of an electric car is 30-40% higher than the price of the same petrol car, this difference will not be covered by any incentive. Even cheaper service.
In essence, with this solution we mainly help wealthy people who can buy an electric car. Moreover, with a large power reserve, because everything is sour with the charging infrastructure on toll roads.
When an electric car is only 10% more expensive than a petrol car, there will be another conversation. This will be a real incentive to purchase an “electric train”.
