When it’s cold and you’re driving, you want to drink something warm – tea or coffee. From such dishes it is desirable to “get drunk and not pour over.” And I also want the drink poured into it by a caring woman to no longer cool.

Thermos cups, thermos cups, car mugs, glasses with a valve… As soon as they don’t get a call. It is clear that it is impossible to cover all the variety of such products in one material. The differences between them are huge – and not just in size or price.

We tried to take several thermo cups (we will call them that) for testing with a 20-fold price range, from 200 to 4000 rubles, and made of different materials.

In this review, we have not set ourselves the task of identifying leaders or outsiders, but have tried to draw your attention to common decisions that we believe are literate or not very good. In any case, we do not recommend buying the first mug you come across, in the name of which there is a “thermo” particle: the choice may be disappointing.

Everyone chooses the volume of the mug for themselves. But especially for the driver the outer diameter of the bottom and the shape of the lower part of the cabinet are important. All this should match the regular cup holders of a particular car. And they are very different: cylindrical, conical, rectangular, with and without clamps. If one does not fit into the other, the idea loses its meaning.

In our example, the bottom diameters are quite different, from 60 to 81 mm. But in any case, each mug must be “fitted” on a specific machine to hold securely.

Sum up

The recipe for thermal stabilization is always the same: the double walls of the vessel. In plastic mugs, however, this does not look serious: the effect is minimal. Well, you can find pluses: burning while drinking is problematic and the price is usually low. Spill-resistant lids are made differently everywhere: some are easy to open with a finger, while others require effort with the risk of pouring the contents on themselves.

Stainless steel is the best option for thermal insulation, both reliable and practical.. However, many manufacturers do not see the difference between a thermos with a twist-off lid and a thermos. Drinking from a thermos while driving is inconvenient – if the drink is poured into a regular mug before drinking, the whole point of the idea is lost. Yes, you can burn.

Safety first

You can approve or disapprove of the use of hot drinks while driving, but in any case you should follow the safety rules.

We recommend that you only drink a drink from a mug during breaks in traffic, for example at a traffic light. Especially modern ones with a timer are useful.

Sorry for the prose, but by pouring hot coffee on your pants, you can come to work “cheered up” not, but to rush hour.
