Driving expert Sergei Kanunnikov found in the archives several mysterious models, now known only to the most knowledgeable connoisseurs of domestic automotive history.

But these models could become real bestsellers – but, according to those in power, they did not fit into the Soviet way of life, or even into Soviet reality.

Of course, there could be other reasons, but take a look at this photo.

The Zarya coupe appeared in Severodonetsk, it was developed in the motor transport department, and prototypes were built at a car repair base – in the same place where the Start minibus with a fiberglass body appeared a little earlier. It was the same with Zarya, and with its contours of the coupe (or still, strictly speaking, a two-door sedan) it referred to the Gran Turismo – as it could have been in the Union of the 1960s …

The car was based on GAZ-21 units. Unfortunately, it did not go into the series – only a few cars were assembled.

Three more mysterious cars of the USSR, which you certainly have not met!
