The third-generation Chevrolet Aveo will be imported from China to Mexico, where it will be produced by a joint venture between SAIC, GM and Wuling.
The car was developed entirely in China and will be available in both hatchback and sedan body styles. Model competitors are Nissan March/Versa and Kia Rio.
The exterior design is quite conservative – with simple lines without any striking features.
The car has halogen headlights, but with LED daytime running lights that merge into the chrome strip on the grille. The bumper is equipped with air intakes, fog lights and a chrome splitter.
The window line of the hatchback rises towards the rear, which closely resembles the rear of the Audi A3 due to the striking shape of the taillights and bumper. The bumper of the sedan is less embossed and decorated with two fake exhausts. The edge of the boot lid is slightly raised, which forms a small spoiler.
Salon Chevrolet Aveo has a simple design. There’s an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen, but the instrument panel is analog. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The equipment includes air conditioning, a four-speaker audio system, a rear view camera and rear parking sensors. In terms of safety, all trims will be equipped with six airbags and disc brakes.
Under the hood of the new Aveo is a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 99 hp. and 143 Nm. Torque is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed CVT for manual shift mode.
The model will appear this year, and not only in the markets of South America and Africa, but also in China, where it will be sold under the Wuling brand.
It is planned to deliver cars from China to Mexico, which means it should be the most affordable state employee on the market.
