The latest development for the intelligence service of the Russian army appeared in the special operations zone, the vehicles began to enter the troops in May 2022.
Now these modernized BRM-1K Korshun reconnaissance combat vehicles will be tested in combat. But already during the development of military personnel, armored vehicles were highly valued for their capabilities.
The running-in of combat vehicles and training of crews is carried out on special training grounds in the Zaporozhye region of the Russian Federation. And that’s how the military describes the BRM-1K.
New equipment has arrived – BRM-1K, and we have been conducting training since December. <…> The equipment is new, electronics. <…> Everything works, everything is fine and there are no difficulties, since we trained on the BMP before, and now everything is easier: both loading ammunition and disassembling the gun is not difficult, you need a little practice. <…> All the nuances have already been studied and it hits exactly: where it pointed, it hit there,” one of the military told RIA Novosti.
Mastering the BRM-1K is easy. The machine was created on the basis of the BMP-1. The uninhabited turret is equipped with a coaxial 7.62 mm PKT machine gun and a 30 mm automatic cannon, such as the BTR-82A.
The main feature of the reconnaissance vehicle is its equipment. It is located in the compartment designated for landing in the BMP-1 (only two places are left for paratroopers or commandos). These are several modern complexes for monitoring and collecting the information necessary for intelligence.

- mine detector IMP-1 for detecting metal mines;
- VPKhR device for conducting chemical reconnaissance;
- binoculars 1PN33B for observation in the dark;

- illumination of 50 mm cartridges for illuminating targets at night;
- telephone TA-57 for remote control of a shortwave radio station;
- the 1RL133-1 telemetry reconnaissance radar was mounted on a rack at the rear of the fuselage;
- rangefinder of the laser type DKRM-1;
- equipment for navigation TNA-1/3, 1T25;
- gyrocompass 1G11N;
- smoke curtain system 902V “Cloud”.
