On March 1, 2023, a new edition of the Traffic Rules will come into effect.

So in some cases (in the absence of sidewalks, footpaths, bike paths and verges) pedestrians can move on bike paths. But at the same time, pedestrians must give way to cyclists and SIM cards, so they have no advantage.

The traffic rules on the carriageway have also undergone some changes, in particular clarifications. Unlike regular pedestrians, who must walk towards cars in the roadway (on the left side of the road), pedestrians driving a sim must walk with passing vehicles (on the right side of the road).

The new traffic rules define the new markings for diagonal pedestrian crossings more clearly. Markup 1.14.3 appeared in GOST several years ago (since June 1, 2018). However, since it was not in the traffic regulations, it was not clear what exactly it should be used for.

In section 4.5, the word “unregulated” has been deleted, so that from 1 March 2023 pedestrians must independently ensure their safety at all crossing points. That is, even at a regulated intersection, after the green signal is turned on, you must ensure that cars do not continue to pass through the intersection.
