So far only diesel
Under the hood of the Sable NN is the well-known Cummins 2.8 diesel engine. The manual specifies power options from 120 to 150 horsepower.
Now only Sables with 139 horsepower units are on sale. This engine has proven itself well – simple in design and with a long resource.
The service interval is 20,000 km and the car has a warranty of 4 years or 200,000 km.
Later, the range will be expanded with petrol and dual-fuel (petrol + gas) versions. The diesel engine is also waiting for replacement – with an engine of GAZ’s own design. But there is no official information about him yet.
New box to save
The machine, which GAZ has developed in-house, is almost ready. And they managed to create their own mechanics in Nizhny Novgorod. Instead of a 5-speed gearbox, there is now a 6-speed gearbox.
Empty Sable NN takes off easily from the second. This is typical for commercial vehicles: the first is necessary for difficult conditions and driving with a load.
Thanks to the sixth step, the economy on the highway will improve. Even at 110 km/h, the speed does not go beyond the green zone (approximately 1600-2400 rpm). And you can use it from 70 km/h.
There are about two dozen storage spaces on a modern dashboard. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail.
Maneuverability of the car
The GAZelle has a minimum wheelbase of 3145 mm. Sable NN is even more compact – 3005 mm between the axles. And the total length of the machine is 5110mm.
As a result, the turning circle is only 5.4 m. Not every passenger car and crossover can boast of this! Sable turns easily where you wouldn’t expect it from a van.
Plus the almost missing bonnet and large two-piece mirrors – Sobol is perfectly prepared for work in urban bustle. It remains only to wait for the appearance of parking sensors and a rear view camera in the configuration.
The seat is chic by commercial vehicle standards. Adjustable lumbar support, length, height and angle of the cushion. Besides, it jumped.
No limits
The carrying capacity of the Sable in version 3.5 (gross weight 3.5 tons) is 999 kg. This means that such a car is allowed to enter the center of Moscow (cars with a carrying capacity of more than one ton are subject to restrictions).
But there is another restriction for trucks in the capital. On the so-called “loading frame” (the main roads of the city) they can move freely, but only cars with a gross weight of no more than 2.5 tons are allowed to enter residential areas.
And underneath that, Sable was created NN 2.5. Structurally it is no different from a 3.5 ton machine and can carry the same ton. And even more: gas models are always constructive (this is unofficial information!) Ready to take on more burdens.
But here’s what’s interesting. The curb weight of the 3.5 ton Sable is 2501 kg. And to make it a 2.5-tonne gross weight car, the design had to be lightened. The double passenger seat was replaced with a single one, the spare wheel and van trim were abandoned.
Formally, it turned out to be a ridiculous carrying capacity – 139 kg. But which of the carriers looks at factory indicators …
The instrument panel is new. The central display has been sharpened to reflect the operation of active safety systems, including adaptive cruise control.
Is for sale
Sable NN is currently offered only in the medium-roof version – in the form of an all-metal van or cargo-passenger combination. The price is 2.7-2.9 million rubles.
There is currently only one set. But very rich: a media system, light and rain sensors, LED headlights, heated windscreens, mirrors and seats, air conditioning, cruise control.
Gradually, Sable will acquire new configurations and units. Even four-wheel drive is promised. In other words, they take into account all customer wishes.
