The most popular methods of deception in car services today are the use of low-quality spare parts, pouring fake engine oil and demanding money from the customer for extraordinary work. This was told socialbites.ca by Jan Haytseer, vice president of the National Automobile Association (NAS).

“Perhaps the most popular scam right now is the butter story. Previously, the number of fakes was already numerous, but now it has increased even more. As a result, some primitive version is poured at the workshop instead of the recommended oil for your car. Sometimes this happens on purpose, and sometimes the service is unaware of the problem. Worst case, they never change the oil,” Heitzeer said.

According to the NAS vice president, the next problem is lots of bad parts. Car service workers know that the part does not meet the quality or is a fake, but they still install it on the car and get money like a high-quality and even original spare part.

“Another scam is fictitious works. The services did less work on the vehicle than they indicated in the work order, for example, they prescribed the replacement of a part, but in fact they did not do it, ”explained the expert.

In order not to be fooled by the tricks of the dishonest soldiers, Heitzeer must carefully coordinate the work with the master and check where the replaced parts are after repairing the machine.

Former automobile specialist said about the risk of fire in the car due to a defective windshield.
