Do modern IT technologies allow passive safety testing to be fully simulated? Computer crash tests began their rapid development about twenty years ago and have progressed steadily since then – however, they are little more than a good help with the full range of tests. Manufacturers are not yet ready to replace real tests 100% with simulation. But they, and even more so, the authors of thematic YouTube channels, continue to study how accurately a modern computer can repeat reality.
In one of these videos, we see a whole series of different crash tests running in parallel: in one part of the screen – a real test, in the other – the digital copy. The tests are very different: collisions on a collapsible barrier and a concrete wall, tangential contact with a roadblock, as well as brick walls, operation of the suspension on bumps, incidents with trucks and pedestrians … Separately, the operation of airbags, which was also simulated is shown. And it seems pretty accurate!
- And another interesting simulation: this is what happens when you crash into a concrete wall on a Maybach at different speeds.
