The Russian authorities are going to increase the production of electric vehicles nine times. In 2023, the country plans to produce 18 thousand of these cars, in 2024 – 36 thousand. This was announced during a strategic session on electric transport led by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov.
Last year, about 2,000 electric cars were produced in the country.

“To date, 24.5 thousand electric vehicles have already been registered in Russia. And if we talk about the charging infrastructure, then more than 7.5 thousand chargers are already operating in Russia and 35 EZS operators are involved,” said Maxim Kolesnikov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development.
The growth in sales of electric vehicles to the government is primarily related to the implementation of support measures, in particular the existing programs of preferential car loans for individuals and preferential car leasing for legal entities. In some regions there are also measures such as free parking and no motor vehicle tax.
