Rusal launched the production of low carbon cast alloys from scrap aluminum for the automotive industry.
The new alloy is called PEFA (Primary Equivalent Foundry Alloys) and contains 20% aluminum scrap, which is added to the aluminum melt during production,” the company said in a statement.
*This material was created by a person who has the status of a foreign agent in the Russian Federation.
The new alloy meets automakers’ requirements for a low environmental footprint of products and the involvement of recyclable materials in recycling. This ensures the company’s participation in the circular economy of the automotive industry.
The production of such an alloy will be increased in the second half of 2023, and the content of secondary raw materials in it will be increased to 30%.
