Drivers in the capital and in many other megacities complain that this year, after treating the roads with reagents, the resulting film settles on the windshields, the brushes cannot cope. This film remains even after washing the car. But not modern reagents are the cause of the appearance of an oily film and various muddy spots, believes Anna Shestachenko, head of the Winter Road Maintenance Association.
In an interview with the Za Rulem portal, she noted that the materials used to treat roads form transparent salt water when dissolved.

Dirt and oily film appear due to the presence of gasoline, oil, worn tires and asphalt on the roadway, as well as soil from lawns and slopes, and sand from neighboring highways and cities around Moscow, where the sand-salt mixture is still used . By the way, there are fewer and fewer such cities every year, ”said the expert.
According to her, treatment with hydrophobic compounds such as anti-rain will help to clean the glass and reduce the sticking of various mixtures on it.
You can also clean glass with dish gels and home window cleaners. You can reduce dirt on your windshield by wiping it regularly with a sponge dampened with mild soapy water. It will not remove strong pollution, but it will be useful as a prophylactic, ”Shestachenko advised.
The expert also noted that multi-component anti-icing reagents have been used in the capital since 2011, the composition of which was developed and recommended by a special committee of scientists, experts and environmentalists. Worldwide, the compositions have not changed for years. To date, the capital’s arsenal has several types of anti-icing agents for different urban needs. In particular, liquid and solid combinations of sodium and calcium chlorides, as well as sodium, calcium and potassium chlorides with the addition of sodium formate, which prevents corrosion of cars, are used to treat the roadway.
