In the case of budget support for the so-called screwdriver assembly, the consequences are the inefficiency of investment in R&D, the loss of technical competencies and the decline of domestic mechanical engineering,” AvtoVAZ noted after a working meeting in which Chairman of the Russian automaker Maxim Sokolov took part.
The head of AVTOVAZ announced to start producing Lada cars in the second half of this year at the former Nissan site in St. Petersburg. By 2025-2027, production volumes are expected to increase to 50-70 thousand cars per year.
