If you warm up the car before driving into the courtyard of the house, there is a risk of endangering your health and the health of the residents of the first and second floors, Roman Pukalov, director of environmental programs at the Green Patrol organization, warned.
In winter, all exhaust fumes accumulate at the level of the first or second floor and the occupants of the house have nothing to breathe from here. In addition to soot, carbon dioxide and nitric oxide, the carcinogenic substance benzpyrene is also produced. At high concentrations it can cause poisoning. In addition, the driver can be held liable under administrative law for heating up the engine for a long time (5 minutes or more) in the yard.

In order not to stress the engine after standing in the cold, the expert advises warming up the car in motion, gradually increasing the speed. At low speeds, the engine warms up more evenly. Therefore, you should leave the yard slowly and gradually go faster.
It will be much more useful for everyone, as harmful emissions are dissipated and the car warms up evenly, ”the expert added.
