A driver who decides to tie a “cheesecake” or a sleigh to the car risks being severely punished. What exactly – said car lawyer Sergei Smirnov.

For transporting people outside the cabin, they will be fined 1,000 rubles, but this is not the only punishment that threatens the offender, says the lawyer.

In Russia, it is forbidden to operate equipment that is not provided for by the design of the vehicle. Therefore, the use of “snakes” will entail a warning or a fine of 500 rubles. However, there is a heavier penalty.

“The consequences will be quite serious if it leads to damage to health. In this case, the driver can be held liable for a traffic violation that caused mild or moderate harm to health,” Smirnov said.

If the passenger of the cheesecake is seriously injured, a criminal penalty may follow for the driver, and if he dies, a criminal case for violating traffic rules and driving a vehicle is guaranteed (Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) .
