The highlight of the Estonia-11 racing car, designed at the Tallinn Experimental Car Repair Plant in 1963, was the absence of… a gearbox! The fact is that the semi-assembled car fell into the hands of the Leningrad racer Yuri Vishnyakov, who completed the construction at his own discretion.
In particular, he equipped the car with an improved GAZ-13 engine, previously installed on his sports glider. The engine with a working volume of more than 5.5 liters delivered a solid torque, which was the reason to completely dispense with the gearbox. In such an unusual form, the car even took fourth place in the 1965 USSR championship.
