From January 2, 2023, travel on the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD) has become paid. Since the beginning of the year, some 735,000 cars have driven on the highway in this mode. For transit transportation, each trip, regardless of the category of the car, is 950 rubles.
At the same time, more than 99% of traffic consists of vehicles belonging to Muscovites and residents of the region – travel is free for them. Only owners of transit vehicles from the regions have to pay. Most of the capital’s guests, captured by cameras on the MSD, come from the Ryazan, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Tula and St. Petersburg regions.
However, for them there is an option when they do not have to pay for travel on MSD. If the car has been parked within the boundaries of the Central Ring for more than a day and at least two hours have elapsed between entering the MSD and leaving it, visitors will not be charged (such journeys are not considered transit).
