Inflation, higher recycling charges and exchange rates will certainly take their toll – cars will only get more expensive in the coming months.
So far, manufacturers and dealers are keeping prices at last year’s levels, but that won’t be the case for long. Coming total rewrite of price lists.
“During the year, the cost of cars can increase by 20-30%, depending on the exchange rate of the ruble. The main conditions for this are a reduction in global car production due to a shortage of parts, an increase in the cost of supplying them to the Russian Federation due to sanctions, as well as a traditional inflation rate of 3-4%, which has always been taken into account in the pricing process,” notes head Denis Reshetnikov, dealer directorate of the Fresh Auto network of car dealerships.
In 2022, the prices of cars have been constantly rising and the prices of some models have increased by an unimaginable 40% and even 60%. And that’s in just 12 months.
“For example, representatives of Lada added from 11% to 23% to the cost, Hyundai Tucson is sold more expensive by 29.3%, and Kia Seltos – by 30.6%. Prices for models from Chinese car manufacturers also changed in 2022: prices for Changan CS35 Plus, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Exeed TXL and Geely Atlas Pro, Tugella and Coolray rose from 43 to 60% due to logistical difficulties in importing these cars into the Russian Federation, as well as the volatility of the ruble exchange rate and domestic political risks, which are also included in the cost of new cars, ”explained Denis Reshetnikov.
Rustam Nazarov, director of the sales department at Gazprombank Autoleasing, recalled in an interview with RG that the recycling fee will soon increase, which means that car prices will start to rise in the first quarter of this year.
“The collection of utensils primarily concerns special equipment, trucks and trailers. According to several experts, costs in these segments of equipment, excluding exchange rate fluctuations, can increase by an average of 15-20%,” said Rustam Nazarov.
