According to local publication Yle, Finnish politicians are concerned about Yandex and its taxi service Yango, which operates in Finland. The issue of her work in the country has been raised several times.

The government is monitoring the situation, but cannot yet impose a ban – no laws have been broken.

The concern of the authorities is not the service itself, but the “potential threat” that the “Russian Google” Yandex can carry. For example, the Baltic countries have already banned the operation of Yango, arguing that user data can end up in the Russian special services. However, no evidence was provided for this.

Since no acts threatening information security have been registered in Finland itself, no such ban has been adopted, although this question arises periodically. The last time it was discussed in parliament at the end of the year was on December 30.

If real problems arise, Finland will act through the EU and not be guided by national decisions, like Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, the authorities say.

Until then, only the citizens themselves can boycott Yango. So last spring, taxi drivers said some taxi drivers were removing Yango stickers from their cars out of customer dissatisfaction. It is now known that the Yango taxi service is very popular among young people in the country due to its fairly affordable prices.
