Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced production of the 2,000th Moskvich 3 car, one of which was presented as a housewarming gift to the 100,000th Muscovite moving under the renovation program.
“We are restoring our industry, which has been abandoned by foreigners.<….> We left the team, resumed the work of this team, have already produced two thousand cars, ”TASS reports the words of the mayor of the capital.
Sergei Sobyanin said this while talking to the family of a pensioner who became the 100,000th Muscovite to move under the renovation program. It was she who received the keys to the two thousandth car.
Recall that production at the Moskvich plant started in November, and for 2023 there are plans to produce 40,000 cars, including electric cars.
In May, Renault’s Russian assets passed into state ownership of the Russian Federation. After the Renault Russia factory came under the control of the Moscow government, the city administration announced the resumption of production of Moskvich cars.
