AVTOVAZ president Maxim Sokolov said the testing process for a CVT from a new partner would be completed by the end of the year.
And from 2024, the automaker plans to resume production of cars with an automatic transmission of various modifications. It is planned that in three years 60% of AVTOVAZ vehicles with automatic transmissions will roll off the assembly line.
It was previously reported that AvtoVAZ could equip Lada cars with Chinese CVTs or two-clutch robot gearboxes. A return to Japanese CVTs and Jatco machines is not being considered.
Chinese automatic machines will be installed on all Lada models. The exception is SUVs from the Niva family.
