Alexander Kholodov, deputy chairman of the interregional public organization Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Car Owners, said motorists have a real chance to challenge the fine for crossing the solid line if the markings were not visible due to snow.

“Especially if there is a DVR recording that shows that it was impossible to see the markings. But this is only if the motorist is only charged with violating the marking requirements – rebuilding without leaving the oncoming lane where this is not prohibited by anything other than the markings,” – said the auto expert.

At the same time, he warned that the driver, who violated other traffic rules when crossing the continuous, snow-covered marking line, would still have to pay a fine.

We are specifically talking about entering the oncoming lane where there are two or more lanes in each direction. Marking is not necessary here, as the ban is enshrined in clause 9.2 of the SDA, Alexander Kholodov explained.
