The Russian airline “Volga-Dnepr” conducted the first cargo flight on the route Moscow – Delhi (India) – Dhaka (Bangladesh) and back. The flight was made under an agreement with the Moscow government. The Il-76 landed at Sheremetyevo Airport, where the cargo is handled by the Moscow Cargo terminal, the press service of the Moscow Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development reported on the official Telegram channel.
Deptrans specifies that the aircraft delivered 18 tons of Russian metal structures to South Asia and returned to Moscow with 23 tons of children’s and sports equipment, textiles and shoes.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has signed an agreement with the airline Volga-Dnepr on cooperation under the Commission for the Improvement of the Stability of the Economy, which will ensure stable and fast freight transport between Moscow, Russian cities and abroad. This agreement will allow the airline to operate at the same volumes as before, renew its fleet and maintain jobs, including for Russian pilots. This gives Moscow companies the opportunity to order all necessary goods abroad from the largest air freight carrier in Russia,” said Maxim Liksutov, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport.
He clarified that the volume of the transport order from Moscow will be about 9.5 billion rubles. In turn, Fyodor Novikov, general manager of Volga-Dnepr Moscow, noted that in the current situation it is important not only to maintain the current logistics chains, but also to “build new transport corridors for stable supplies of socially important goods”.
Novikov stressed that the company is ready to develop the geography of flights and increase the list of goods for uninterrupted supply of Moscow residents. By the end of 2022, it is planned to deliver about 20 thousand tons of various cargoes with Volga-Dnepr aircraft to the capital.
