In total, 131 new cars were introduced to the world in 2022. And this is without taking into account updates, facelifts and concepts.
The most interesting thing is that 47% of new products were presented by Chinese car manufacturers. Russian car companies presented 1% of new products.
In total, China has developed, introduced and put into production 62 new models – an average of five new cars per month. The leader among Chinese companies was SAIC, which released 10 new models. In second place is Geely with eight models and Great Wall with six premieres.
In the overall standings, the Toyota concern became the leader with 11 new models, including four SUVs, three sedans, three minivans and one city car. In 2021, the company also released 11 new products – stability.
Like SAIC, General Motors also released 10 new products under the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC brands. The American and Chinese groups therefore share second place in the ranking.
In third place along with Geely– Honda, which also introduced 8 new cars, including new generations of the Accord, CR-V and Pilot.
Fourth place, together with Great Wall, is shared by Stellantis – the European concern introduced Alfa Romeo Tonale, Citroën C4 X, Fiat Fastback, Jeep Avenger, Maserati Grecale and Peugeot 408. Also in fourth place was Volkswagen with six new products.
This is followed by BMW and Mercedes-Benz (4 new entries each), followed by Suzuki, Ford and Hyundai (3 new entries each).
