During the Christmas and New Year holidays, inflatable decorations are a common sight in the United States. However, they are not always suitable on the road. And when an Arizona traffic cop spotted the suspicious-looking “passenger,” it turned out that the driver of the vehicle was using him as a companion for a free ride in an HOV lane.
The driver and his inflatable Grinch were able to fool the video cameras or other drivers, but ran into a police officer before their accident.
Note that this practice is illegal in the US, the driver is only allowed to use the HOV lane if there are two or more people in the cab.
An exception is only made for motorcycles, public transport, tow trucks, etc.
Drivers try to get around the ban in every possible way, for example this driver admitted that he used a blow-up doll for a year and a half before he was caught.
As a result, the inflatable Grinch was fined along with the driver.
